Member of the Month
Each month we recognize our members' commitment to this community and turn the spotlight on their business or organization.
This month’s spotlight is on Dynamix Physical Therapy, located at 3095 East End Drive. Here is a little Q&A with co-founder and acting Humboldt clinic director Heath Ladd.
Q: Tell us about Dynamix. What kinds of services do you provide? Where do you have locations?
-Dynamix Physical Therapy opened April 2009 in, Milan, TN, with a vision of providing a form of healthcare that emphasizes customer service and personalized care in and exciting/motivating environment to the people of West Tennessee. Our approach is unique to this region and is typically a hands-on form of manual therapy that is aimed at reducing pain quickly--not making the patient feel worse after treatment. We want our patients to look forward to coming to physical therapy, and our goal is to make something that has a reputation as something dreadful, to be fun and enjoyable. Our services include outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, which actually includes any aches and pains along with post-surgical treatment. We also offer sports medicine/athletic rehabilitation, industrial/worker's compensation rehabilitation, and treatment specialized for individuals with balance deficits due to weakness and even vertigo. We have 4 locations: Milan, Trenton, Humboldt, and Brownsville--written in the order in which they were opened.
Q: What made you want to go into business for yourself?
-Starting a private practice had always been a goal of mine. I met co-founder Russ Huffstetler in 2006, and we realized that we had similar goals and ideas. We felt like many of our ideas were unique to the profession and began business planning in 2007. We researched and planned for approximately 2 years before finally opening in 2009.
Q: What sets Dynamix apart from other physical therapy clinics?
-Our team. Each member of the Dynamix team wakes up every morning with a desire to be the best, not only for themselves, but for their patients. Our treatment approach is unique to this area and consists primarily of hands-on based care, depending on patient needs. In order to be highly skilled, you have to practice. The team consistently comes in before work hours, stays after work hours, and travels across the country to develop skills that are new to this region. There's a common thought that physical therapy is going to hurt however our philosophy is the exact opposite. We also place a high emphasis on customer service, company culture, and atmosphere. Each patient that walks through our door should feel like part of the family and have a sense of comfort. I cant really compare us to other clinics but an old school approach to customer service is a lost art in today's healthcare market in general, but this is an area that we take very serious.
Q: Tell us about yourself. What do you do in your spare time? Any hobbies?
-I have a wife and two young children, ages 3 and 4 months. So they definitely keep me busy outside of work. Otherwise, I enjoy exercising, and I'm also an avid sports fan.
Q:.You opened the Humboldt location a few years ago now. What’s the best thing about being in this community so far?
-One of the staples of our company is community involvement. We enjoy participating in community events and place a high value on doing what we can to help the community grow. Civic involvement, school involvement, and other avenues of community enrichment are a priority. Humboldt has multiple organizations that foster community growth, and we want to do everything we can to involved.
Q: Anything else you want people to know about Dynamix?
-Every member of the Dynamix team has a true passion for people. We have a genuine interest in getting to know our patients as individuals which allows us to deliver personalized care that is unique to each individual. Also, we have a staff that loves one another. All of us are friends outside of the clinic, as well. I'm a firm believer that when people at work are friends, it creates a positive culture, and in our profession--helps the patient beyond physical needs. Chronic pain tends to have mental and emotional side effects and being in a positive/encouraging environment is very important.
