BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
• Promote a Shop-At-Home Program • Work with Chamber’s Marketing Committee & the Humboldt Business Development Board to market grant and other revitalization initiatives. • Promote “Destination Humboldt” emphasis • Continue “new business” recruiting efforts, especially to the “gaps” • Monitor “Jump-Start Initiative” program for new businesses
COMMUNITY
- Plan and conduct the annual Christmas at Bailey Park celebration in conjunction with City Parks & Recreation Director (with 1st right of refusal by current sponsor)
- Reemphasize “Community Pride” and positive engagement
- Plan and conduct, in coordination with Strawberry Festival President, an annual clean-up in conjunction with the annual WTSF (with 1st right of refusal by current sponsors)
- Plan and conduct, in coordination with Strawberry Festival President, an annual recognition of Best Yard contest in conjunction with WTSF
- “Adopt a Planter on Main Street” initiative
- Humboldt Hall of Fame coordination

EDUCATION
• Continue development and support of Humboldt Viking Service Scholars &
Tennessee Scholars Programs
- Coordinate with Guy Causey
- Facilitate the involvement of our students in community programs
- Work with the Chamber’s Business Development Committee on
encouraging hiring of Viking Service and Tennessee Scholars
• Develop ways to promote our school system’s positive attributes and student
accomplishments, and coordinate with local and regional media
• Coordinate with and support the STEP program (college-access mentoring) to
help identify mentors in the community and offer assistance when needed
• Encourage and facilitate continued conversations between Humboldt Higher
Education Center and local school systems, especially related to dual credit and
dual enrollment opportunities
• Research the educational market and identify ways to continuously improve the
climate of education in Humboldt
INDUSTRIAL
- Plan for and promote the Plant Manager and Human Resource Director meeting known as the “Industrial Council”
- Interact with the Chamber’s Education Committee and the Humboldt Higher Education Center relative to education needs of local industries regarding labor skills and training… Develop program to retain and thank the current Industries in Humboldt (i.e. Industry Day, Industry Recognition, Picnics, etc.)
- Identify Industry issues that the Chamber needs to take action on such as corresponding with our elected officials or having our local officials visit with our Industries
- Regular visits (by Chamber staff at least 2 times a year and by a Chamber Board member at least annually)
MARKETING
- Coordinate retail recruitment efforts
- Continue support of existing businesses
- Coordinate the development of tourism for the City
- Consider a plan, design, and recommendation for City signs
- Monitor Facebook and website for continued advantages
- Create/promote business referral process for participating businesses
- Consider an updated brochure promoting Humboldt (and identify funding)
MEMBERSHIP
- Secure and retain a membership base to provide adequate financial and volunteer resources to carry out Chamber program and initiatives
- Coordinate the quarterly Chamber After-Hours celebrations
- Plan and conduct the annual Membership Banquet
- Maintain the “Ambassador Program” for ribbon cuttings, ground breakings
WEST TENNESSEE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
• Plan, prepare, and present the Annual Strawberry Festival • Festival President consults the Chamber Executive Committee, by September 1, to discuss General Chair position • General Chair is approved by no later than the September Chamber Board meeting • President and General Chair consult the “Milestone” and “Festival Book” for timing of correspondence and activity execution • President presents proposed budget to the Chamber Board by no later than Oct. 1. • Establish “Presidents’ Council” • State Marketing Grant application submitted by Chamber office no later than June 30. • Funding of State grant requested by Chamber office no by later than May 15.
